Washing Machine, 2017
Washing Machine is centered around a playful manipulation on viewer expectations and schemas. Watching my performance, viewers may assume that they are observing an actual washing machine, highlighting the fallibility of human perception. Performed 4 times, this work remains an ongoing interest and exploration for me, particularly as the field of AI evolves. Willful misinterpretation of the words “machine learning” raises inquiry into the transfer of skill through close observation and mimicry.
